The first of two performances on tour with a programme centred on Beethoven, the programme opens with Arriaga’s Overture in D major, a bright and confident work by the composer often known as the “Spanish Mozart”, before moving to Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 4, noted for its lyrical dialogue between soloist and orchestra. We close with Beethoven’s Symphony No. 4, a work full of energy, wit and momentum.

As part of our May tour, we are delighted to perform at the Baluarte Auditorium in Pamplona, conducted by our Principal Guest Conductor Roberto Forés Veses with Steven Isserlis as soloist.

The programme opens with Arriaga’s Overture in D major, a bright and confident work by the composer often known as the “Spanish Mozart”. We are then joined by Steven Isserlis for Haydn’s Cello Concerto No. 2 in D, a work that combines elegance, virtuosity and expressive warmth, performed by one of the most respected cellists of his generation. The concert concludes with Beethoven’s Symphony No. 4, a work full of energy, wit and momentum.
